Alabama voters may soon decide whether students must sing national anthem once a week

The Alabama Senate passed a bill Tuesday that could make singing the national anthem once a week mandatory in public schools.

The measure, filed by Sen. Gerald Allen, R-Tuscaloosa, only applies to the first stanza of the national anthem and would be a constitutional amendment that Alabama citizens can vote to approve.
