Sen. Kelly says he thinks Harris will win Arizona: 'There's a lot of energy here'

Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly (D) said Vice President Harris has “a lot of energy” in the battleground state in a Monday appearance on Fox News.

“There’s a lot of energy here in Arizona,” Kelly told Fox News’s Neil Cavuto in an interview. “I think she’s going to win Arizona.”

The senator then reflected on a weekend of campaigning throughout the Grand Canyon State, suggesting momentum was boosted for the vice president — despite polls showing former President Trump with a slight edge in the state.

“We’ve seen it over the weekend, knocked on over 200,000 doors, made over 800,000 phone calls. We had 7,000 volunteers doing this work,” Kelly added. “There’s a lot of excitement.”

He specifically highlighted the Harris campaign’s impact on Generation Z students at Arizona State University (ASU).

“I was just over at the ASU campus, as an example, and we had a couple hundred students,” the senator said.

Most of them had voted already, by the way, almost all of them,” he continued. “But they’re going to work to get their friends and family members to vote, too.”

Harris last visited the crucial swings state on Thursday to campaign alongside Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), who’s running for a highly contested Senate seat against Republican Kari Lake.

“It is time for a new generation of leadership in America, and I am ready to offer that leadership as the next president of the United States,” the Democratic presidential nominee told voters in Phoenix before wishing the crowd a “Happy Halloween.”

The Harris camp has been projecting a tone of confidence in the days leading up to the general election.

On Election Day, former President Trump is currently leading Harris by 2.5 percentage points — 49.8 percent to 47.3 percent — in Arizona according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s aggregate of polls.
