Opening statements begin in murder-for-hire trial alleging Lil Durk put bounty on life of Quando Rondo

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Opening statements began Monday in the murder-for-hire trial of Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk, who is accused of placing a bounty on a rival Atlanta rapper.

Prosecutors told jurors that Lil Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, set in motion a plan to stalk, hunt and kill Tyquian Bowman, an Atlanta rapper known as Quando Rondo.

According to prosecutors, the alleged plot resulted in the death of Bowman’s cousin.

Banks, 33, has pleaded not guilty through his defense team, which argued during opening statements that he had no involvement in the alleged scheme.

If convicted, Banks could face a sentence of life in federal prison.
