Area Single-Vehicle Accident Results in Death of Man

On Wednesday, August 19, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 7 near Dry Run Road in Monongalia County. Upon arrival, deputies found that William Kent Hamilton, of Morgantown, had struck a tree. Mr. Hamilton was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident is currently under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Monongalia County EMS (MonEMS), the Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Department, and the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department.
It was later confirmed by medical officials that the man killed was Dr. William Hamilton with WVU Medicine.
