Local Man who Served in Army, Advocate for Veterans and Homeless, Hall of Famer, Keith Mascia, Passes



Keith Gregory Mascia, 63, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born on May 1, 1962 in Holyoke, MA, a son of the late Luigi “Lou” and Joan Prentice Mascia.


 

Keith is survived by his wife of 31 years, Julie Shay Mascia, whom he married on August 28, 1993.


 


In addition to his wife, Keith is survived by his three children: Sarah Freeman of Clarksburg, Lizzie Winkler and spouse Travis of Clarksburg, and Gregory Mascia and Fiancé Brooklynn Teeple of Clarksburg; three grandchildren: Aaliyah Freeman, Kensley Winkler and Amelia Winkler; two siblings: Karen Reynolds of Plattsburgh, NY and Steve Mascia and spouse Marilyn of New Port Richey, FL; and his beloved cat, Rose.


 


In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by one sister: Tammy Cannerile.


 


Keith is a high school graduate and served his country in the United States Army in the 31st Infantry. He believed in his country and worked each day to make it a better place. Whether through service, support for others, or simply treating people with kindness and respect, he showed what true patriotism looks like, steady, thoughtful and full of heart. Keith devoted countless hours to serving meals to the homeless and veterans. He was the Commander of the American Legion Post 13, the President of the Clarksburg Area Dart League, and was inducted into the National Dart Association Hall of Fame. He loved to play golf also. Keith was a gifted Chef and worked at The Parkette Family Restaurant. He had a true passion for cooking, whether it was for his work, family gatherings, or reunions, he poured his heart into every dish. Above all, he loved his family more than anything.


 


Family will receive friends at the Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr. Rt. 98, Clarksburg, on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 3:00 -7:00PM. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home, on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1:00PM with Pastor Terry Osborne officiating. Interment will follow, escorted by the American Legion Post 31, at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, where full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Army.
