Heavy rain possible on Tuesday, active pattern returns | What to know
After a quiet start to the week, rain chances return on Tuesday. Here’s the latest.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Hopefully, you’ve gotten a chance to enjoy the gorgeous weather this weekend.
If not, there will be one more opportunity to soak up the sun on Monday. Highs wills climb to the middle and upper 70s, under mostly sunny skies. Cloud cover will start to increase after sunset Monday, and things really start to change with the weather pattern by Tuesday.

What should I expect?
An upper-level low will approach the state on Tuesday, and this will encourage the development of widespread showers and storms into Wednesday night.
That aforementioned upper-level low will meander (and weaken) over the state through the rest of the work-week, and this will drive the development of spotty afternoon storms through Friday.
Rain coverage beyond Wednesday morning will be very hit-or-miss, so don’t rush to cancel those plans.
Should I be concerned about possible flooding?
The threat for severe weather will stay south and southwest of the state, but heavy rain is expected Tuesday afternoon and overnight into Wednesday.
The greatest flood risk exists over southern Arkansas, but central Arkansas still has a level 2 out of 4, or “slight” risk of flooding.
There is slight disagreement between the models with how much rain we will receive, but the general trend favors the heftiest totals over the southern half of the state.
Heavy rain and flooding won’t be as big of a concern with the spotty storms in the second half of the week, so Tuesday is the main day you’d want to stay weather aware.
Upper-level ridging, or high pressure, returns by next weekend, so next weekend should be similar to what we saw this weekend.
