Area Woman who Served Harrison County in Role as Library Director, Dorothy “Dottie” (Aley) White, Passes



Dorothy Elizabeth “Dottie” (Aley) White of Nutter Fort, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025 after an extended illness.


 

Dottie was born on August 16, 1971. She graduated from Liberty High School, class of 1989, and earned an associate degree from Fairmont State University in 2001. She dedicated over 20 years of her life to the community of Nutter Fort as the director of the Nutter Fort Public Library where she enjoyed creating lasting relationships with patrons and developing numerous reading programs and events for children. Dottie loved to read, watch TV and movies, do puzzles, and make crafts. Above all, she loved her family and cherished quality time with them, including regular dinners and hosting holiday gatherings.


 


Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Betty Aley, and sister, Debbie (Dave) Clark. She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Doug White of Nutter Fort whom she married on September 16, 1989, her son, Brian White of Arizona, and her daughter, Kayla White of Texas. She is also survived by her siblings, Virginia Baker, Diana (Mark) Wheeler, Brenda (Robert) Templeton, Wayne Aley Jr, and Tommy (Donna) Arehart, her in-laws, Doug and Theresa White, many beloved nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.


 


In keeping with her wishes, Dottie will be cremated.


 


There will be a gathering of family and friends at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.


 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nutter Fort Public Library, 1300 Buckhannon Pike, Nutter Fort, WV.
