One whooping cough case confirmed at Watson Chapel High School

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Watson Chapel School District announced that one case of whooping cough was confirmed among their high school community.

The district is monitoring the situation and working with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) to take precautions to keep all students, staff, and families safe and healthy.

At this time, schools in the district will continue operating as normal. The district issued stated that their collaboration with the ADH “allows [them] to make informed decisions guided by public health expertise.”

Superintendent Dr. Keith McGee added that they will alert families of any updates and whether any changes may impact school operations.
