Police look for armed and dangerous man wanted for deadly Marion County shooting
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office have announced that the suspect in a fatal shooting was found dead near Lake Norfolk on Monday afternoon.
MARION COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office have announced that the suspect in a fatal shooting was found dead near Lake Norfolk on Monday afternoon.
According to reports, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Bull Shoals Police Department, and Arkansas State Police were investigating a deadly shooting that happened at a home in Bull Shoals on Monday morning.
As a result, police were searching for 49-year-old Brooks Dean Due on charges of first-degree murder, and a violation of a protection order.
Authorities began searching for Due near his home in Briarcliff and the surrounding areas, with ASP deploying helicopters to conduct a broader search of the area.
During the aerial search, police located a white vehicle which matched the description of the vehicle that Due was believed to have been driving. The vehicle was found on Shoal Creek Trail near Lake Norfolk.
At the conclusion of their search, police said that their K9 units discovered the body of Due in a wooded area roughly 70 to 75 yards off the road from Shoal Creek Trail — police said that the fatal injury by Due was self-inflicted.
No information has been released regarding the identity of the victim.
