Boy finds 14-carat necklace inside easter egg in downtown Knoxville

JTV hid Easter eggs filled with treasures at four local hotspots for people to find.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — One Easter bunny this year seemed to like karats more than carrots.

A 7-year-old boy found a 14-karat gold necklace in an Easter egg in downtown Knoxville.

Robert Morgan was walking with his dad, Andy Morgan, when he found the egg, which had a JTV sticker on it. They initially assumed the egg held costume jewelry, but found a 14-karat gold necklace instead.

The pair said they were shocked by their find.

“I was astounded by this, because who expects to find a necklace in a bush on Gay Street?” Andy said.

JTV hid Easter eggs in four local hotspots to make a special Easter egg hunt to give back to the community.

Natalie Stambaugh, JTV’s social media coordinator, said the story is a sweet one. She said Robert wanted to sell his Pokémon cards to get something for his mother, and they were happy to be a part of his story.

“Everyone knows the feeling of being little and they love their mom and they do everything for them, and then just to wonder, ‘Oh gosh, where do I get money? How do I get something for her?'” Stambaugh said. “That’s just so sweet and we were just so excited to do that.”

JTV said they are already planning more events like this one in the future.
