Donald Trump replaces White House Covid support page with lab leak ‘truth page’
US President Donald Trump has repurposed the White House’s Covid support website, Covid.gov, into a platform focused on the lab leak theory behind the virus’s origin.
The website, which previously offered guidance on vaccines and testing, now presents the “true origins” of Covid, claiming it emerged from a lab in Wuhan.
It also accuses the American medical community of conspiring with the media to suppress this theory.
A senior government official told Fox News: “This administration prioritises transparency over all else.”

“The American people deserve to know the truth about the Covid pandemic, and we will always find ways to reach communities with that message.”
The updated content directly targets Anthony Fauci, who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during Trump’s first term, accusing him of promoting a “preferred narrative that Covid-19 originated naturally.”
A central focus of the criticism is the scientific paper titled, “The proximal origin of Sars-CoV-2,” which helped steer the consensus toward a natural spillover.
However, messages later released by a congressional committee revealed one of the paper’s authors acknowledged that a lab leak remained a possibility, though they feared offending China.

According to the revised site, Covid contains a “biological characteristic that is not found in nature,” and Wuhan – the virus’s epicentre – housed a research facility with “inadequate biosafety levels.”
The site also points out that Joe Biden granted Dr Fauci a pardon just hours before leaving office in January.
At the time, Biden defended his decision by saying it was not “an admission of guilt” for any wrongdoing, but rather a move to shield the official from potential prosecution under the incoming administration.
The webpage goes on to accuse the health department of blocking a House select committee’s probe into the origins of the virus during Biden’s presidency.

It also criticises the World Health Organisation (WHO) – which Trump pulled the US out of early in his term – for what it calls an “abject failure” by “caving in” to China.
A 2021 WHO-led investigation concluded that the lab leak theory was “extremely unlikely.” However, the scientist who led the mission later admitted that China pressured the team during the process.
The updated site also claims there is no “conclusive evidence” that wearing masks reduced virus transmission, and blames lockdowns for causing “immeasurable harm” to both the economy and public health.
Additionally, it notes that former FBI director Christopher Wray said in 2023 that the bureau believed a lab leak was the most likely cause of the pandemic- a conclusion echoed by the CIA in January.
