How Alabama baseball pulled off dramatic comeback win over Ohio State
There’s not giving up, and then there’s pulling off what Alabama baseball did in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday.
Down 10-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Crimson Tide didn’t call it a game against Ohio State. Alabama went to work and battled back, winning in the ninth inning with a walk-off, three-run homerun from Will Hodo to beat the Buckeyes 12-10.
The Crimson Tide finished with 12 hits to Ohio State’s seven. With the victory, Alabama emerged from the Jax College Baseball Classic with a still perfect 8-0 record.
The Crimson Tide beat Coastal Carolina on Friday, No. 12 NC State on Saturday and then the Buckeyes on Sunday.
Alabama held Ohio State without a run after the fourth inning. Pitcher Aidan Moza entered for Beau Bryans with two outs in the fourth inning and immediately gave up a three-run home run. Then Moza struck out the next pitcher and rolled from there.
In the fourth inning, Moza struck out two of three batters. In the sixth inning, he struck out three more. Then Tate Robertson replaced Moza in the seventh inning and closed out the game.
Moza struck out six of nine batters faced, allowing one hit and one earned run. Robertson struck out four of 10 batters, allowing one hit but no earned runs.
