2 killed, 1 injured in fire at Midfield home

Fire swept through a Midfield home Saturday, killing two people and injuring a third person.

A neighbor called 911 at 6:48 a.m. to report the blaze across the street,

Midfield Fire and Rescue Service responded to the house in the 1200 block of Woodfall Drive to find the home engulfed in flames, said Mayor Gary Richardson.

A husband and wife were pronounced dead on the scene. An elderly family member was rescued and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Richardson said the fatal fire remains under investigation by Midfield fire officials and the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office.
