The police responded to a shooting at a hospital in York County, Pa., where the gunman had been “neutralized” on Saturday morning, the authorities and a hospital official said.
A gunman was at UPMC Memorial hospital at about 11 a.m. and shots were fired, Susan Manko, a vice president of public relations for the hospital, confirmed in an emailed statement.
“The gunman has been apprehended, and no patients have been injured,” she wrote, adding, “The hospital is now secure. This is a fluid situation. Law enforcement is on premises and is managing the situation.”
It was not known whether others had been injured.
The gunman at the hospital, which is in West Manchester Township, had been “neutralized” and an investigation is underway, Ted Czech, a public information officer for the York County Office of Emergency Management, said in a phone call on Saturday.
