Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale on Thursday praised Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over the Union budget. The video capturing MP Athawale praising the Finance Minister was widely shared on social media. In the video, Athawale was seen reading from a note as he expressed his views in a humourous way while his counterparts laughed.
What was unique in his approach was the use of witty rhymes as he heaped praises on the FM and use of sarcasm while targeting the Opposition.
In his witty style, MP Athawale said that the Budget is good to the extent that even China might feel “threatened”. Calling Nirmala Sitharaman “a strong Finance Minister,” he claimed the Union Budget has brought joy to the common man.
Hitting out at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in reference to 2029 Lok Sabha elections, the Rajya Sabha MP advised him to not interfere with PM Modi’s vision else he would get darkness in his share. His hilarious poetic jibe left other Parliamentarians in splits.
Athawale said, “2025-26 yeh nahi hai khali budget, ye to hai Narendra Modi ji ke vikas ka aaina, yeh budget sun k pareshan ho jayega China, Maananiya Kharge Ji, mat chherdho Narendra Modi ji ke naina, nahi to 2029 me bhi ho jayegi aapki raina.” (2025-26 is not an empty budget, this is the vision of Narendra Modi’s development, this budget will be a threat to China, Maananiya Kharge Ji, don’t disturb Narendra Modi’s vision, else you will get darkness even in 2029, referring to poll loss. )
“Iss budget se khush hai man common, kyun ki achhaa Budget deni wali arthamantri hain Nirmala Sitharaman, Budget se ab desh me rahega aman, iss Budget se ab desh me rahega aman, kyuki bohot hi strong hai hamari arthmantri Nirmala Sitharaman,” he continued. (Common people are happy with this budget, the one who presented the good Budget is Nirmala Sitharaman. This budget will lead to prevalence of peace in the country.)
Taking a jibe at the INDI bloc over its apparent rift, Athawale said, “Ab to tut raha hai vipakshiya dal, Modi ji ke hi hath me hoga kal, pohoch raha hai ghar ghar me nal se jal, Modi ji hi nikal sakte hai samasya ka hal,” (Now the opposition is breaking apart, future is in Modi ji’s hands, the water is flowing from taps in every house, Modi ji can solve the problems.)
FM Sitharaman Tables New Income Tax Bill 2025 In Lok Sabha
Meanwhile, FM Sitharaman on Thursday tabled the new Income Tax Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha. The bill aims to simplify tax language by removing jargon and unnecessary provisions and using concise sentences. It introduces a new term called ‘Tax Year’, eliminating the complex terms like ‘Previous Year’ and ‘Assessment Year’.
She had announced the introduction of the bill in the ongoing Budget Session of the Parliament during her Budget speech on February 1.
The New Income Tax Bill contains 536 sections, 23 chapters, and 16 schedules within 622 pages, while the existing Income Tax Act, 1961, has 298 sections, 23 chapters, and 14 schedules.
If approved, the new tax system will take effect in the 2025-26 financial year and apply to taxpayers starting from the 2026-27 assessment year.
