2026 Bengal Poll Call: Mamata Banerjee’s Session With TMC MPs, MLAs To Lay Out Goals & Plans

West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee has called for an organisational meeting of all MPs, MLAs and and block-level leaders at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on February 27. Party insiders say the meet will set the stage for the 2026 election planning for next year.
Banerjee is expected to decide the issues which workers will aim for ahead of the assembly election.

WHAT ARE THE ISSUES?
Banerjee has been alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started online electoral roll rigging, claiming the Election Commission is involved in it.
Banerjee on February 10 said, “We know that they have started a new plan, they have increased voters in Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana in an online method. People from outside have been included in the voters’ list. This is Bengal, they have started doing this, but we will not allow this at any cost.”
Recently, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had also alleged that names of outsiders had come up in the South 24 Parganas list.
It is clear that Banerjee will give instructions to party workers to stay vigilant on this issue.
Speaking to News18, Kunal Ghosh said, “We are waiting for Banerjee’s special message in the session. It will mainly look at three things.”
“Didi has done major development work, but it needs to reach people. She will give the guidelines on how it needs to be done. She will also lay the path to fight the false narrative being spread online. We expect that she will also speak on the online electoral conspiracy. The BJP is trying to incorporate bogus voters in various ways.”
INFIGHTING, ORGANISATIONAL CHANGES
Although the TMC has performed well in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and also in bypolls, infighting is at its peak in the party. There have been killings in various districts and also differences between seniors and juniors.
Certain leaders also gave controversial statements. Madan Mitra, Kalyan Banerjee also raised issues on the role of IPAC. Party insiders are expecting a message from Banerjee on these lines.
Speaking to News18, Saugata Roy said, “She is our leader and we all wait to hear from her. She will definitely give a message on how we can set aside differences at the local level and unitedly fight the election.”
Organisational change is also expected. Banerjee has asked for names from MLAs. TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had also submitted a report on organisational change.
On the TMC’s organisational meeting, BJP general secretary Jagannath Chatterjee said, “We will keep an eye on their meeting, anyhow, now there is a difference between the TMC chairman and MD.”
