₹128-crore underground drainage scheme works begin in Madhira town
Work on the ₹128-crore underground drainage scheme in Madhira town of Khammam district got under way with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka performing bhoomi puja in the town on Sunday.
The scheme is being taken up under the Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TUFIDC) assistance, official sources said.
It will have a sewerage pipeline network that runs a length of around 99 km and four sewage treatment plants (STPs) connecting around 6,638 houses in Madhira municipal limits. It will help improve sewage management and hygiene standards, thereby safeguarding public health and making Madhira a model municipality, sources added.
The Deputy CM instructed the officials to ensure time-bound completion of the works in strict adherence to the stipulated quality standards.
Wyra MLA M.Ramdas Nayak, Khammam RDO Narasimha Rao and Madhira Municipal Commissioner Sampath were present.
